Reporting cycles
Most creditors report once a month, usually around your statement date. So a payment you make today may not show for up to 30 days — and that is why paying a card down before the statement closes affects your score sooner.
Dispute timelines
Bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate. If an item is deleted, the report changes right away, and the next score pull reflects it.
Setting expectations
Utilization changes can show in one cycle. Removing a negative item shows as soon as the deletion posts. Rebuilding thin or damaged history takes months, because age cannot be accelerated.
